Optimize an animation

After you set up the symbols and states that make up an animation, optimize the animation to make it load easily and play smoothly.

After you create and optimize an animation, it is ready to export. For details, see Export an animation.

Set the animation to repeat by looping

By causing an animation to repeat, Looping minimizes the number of states required to build the animation.

  1. Select Window > States to display the States panel.

  2. Click the GIF Animation Looping button  at the bottom of the panel.

  3. Select the number of times to repeat the animation after the first time.

If you select 4, for example, the animation plays five times in all. Forever repeats the animation continuously.

Select settings from the Optimize panel

Optimization compresses a file into the smallest package, making web downloading time much quicker. For more information on optimizing options, see Optimize GIF, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and PICT files.

  1. Select Window > Optimize.

  2. Select the export file format in the Optimize panel.

  3. Set the Palette and Dither options.

  4. From the Transparency pop-up menu in the Optimize panel, select either Index Transparency or Alpha Transparency.

  5. Use the transparency tools in the Optimize panel to select colors for transparency.

  6. In the States panel, set the state delay.
