Move a brush stroke inside or outside a path

Centered stroke, stroke inside, and stroke outside

Use the Stroke pop-up menu in the Stroke Options window to move brush strokes from the default position (centered on a path) to another location.

  1. In the Tools panel or Property inspector, click the Stroke box to open the color swatch pop-up window.

  2. At the bottom of the pop-up window, select either Inside Path or Outside Path from the pop-up menu.

  3. (Optional) Select the Fill Over Stroke option.

    The stroke normally overlaps the fill. Selecting Fill Over Stroke draws the fill over the stroke. When Fill Over Stroke is used with an object with an opaque fill, any part of the stroke that falls inside the path is obscured. A fill with a degree of transparency may tint or blend with a brush stroke inside a path.
